Meet Prime Properties Co-Founder Sherry Miles
Sherry Miles co-founded Prime Properties with her husband, Mike Harness, and Stephanie Nelson in 2012 after a 30-year career in banking that taught her the intricacies of working with people.
The daughter of an oil-patch man, Sherry grew up moving every three to four months. By the time she was in the fourth grade, she had attended 12 schools in 7 states! Sherry graduated from high school in Lake Charles, Louisiana, got married and moved to Houston all in one whirlwind year.
Upon arriving in Houston, Sherry took a job in the research library at M. D. Anderson Hospital. Three years later, she began a 19-year stint at a nearby bank, which – after jobs in virtually every department and night classes in banking – culminated in a position as senior vice president in charge of real estate lending.
Her notable professional journey continued with positions as an FDIC bank fraud investigator and as the first Caucasian, female president and CEO of an Asian-American-owned bank in the United states.
A self-proclaimed “people person,” Sherry loves working with people. So, it was a natural fit when her husband, Mike, suggested she get her license and go to work with him in the real estate business.
“Sherry’s financial banking background gives her a unique perspective,” says co-founder and broker Stephanie Nelson. “She makes sure we’re on top of our required legal paperwork and accounting responsibilities.”
“Plus,” adds Stephanie, “she is great with clients and does whatever it takes to help. She is always there when another agent needs a helping hand. Funny, sensitive and a great storyteller, Sherry has a heart of gold.”
Sherry and Mike have lived here in Sugar Land for more than 24 years. She is drawn to its friendly atmosphere. It has all the entertainment, medical facilities, shopping and top-notch schools without the congestion and noise of bustling, nearby Houston.
“I truly like the beauty of our area,” says Sherry. “Developers in the Fort Bend area successfully incorporated all the necessary eye appeal to make people happy. Tree-lined streets and parks help create the serene feel you get when you drive through our towns.”
“We love it here and hope we never have to leave,” she adds.
