Sherry Miles Bio

Sherry Miles was born in Terrell, Texas but due to her Father’s job in the oil patch, she lived in 10 different states. At 14, her Dad passed away and life changed drastically that night. She learned very quickly to be an “adult”.

After high school, I moved to Houston and got my first job which was at M. D. Anderson Hospital. 3 years later I secured a job in a small bank near my apartment. I stayed with that bank for 19 years and worked in every department. My final job in that bank was as Senior Vice President in charge of Real Estate Lending. This experience prepared me for my future.

The next position was with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as a Bank Fraud Investigator. And finally I ended up my banking career as President and CEO of an Asian American owned bank in Houston. I became the first Caucasian Woman to hold this type of position with an Asian American owned bank in the United States.

After retiring from my banking career, I’ve been working with my husband, Mike Harness, in the Real Estate world. Again, I’m able to help people, something I have done throughout my entire career.

We have 2 dogs and from time to time we foster a dog for a local shelter. We are both members of the Ft. Bend Optimist Club and I’m also a member of the Ft. Bend Friends and Neighbors. We both do a lot of volunteer work and we have lived in Sugar Land since 1996.
